Environment

Similar with many other countries, here in Finland we are very worried about environmental issues. Indeed this topic is foremost and important to us. There are many kind of threats to our natural environment caused by pollution, climate exchange etc. Finex attends to environmental matters as comprehensibly as possible. Finex’s production, products and services comply with the current legislation and permits. During June 2007 we have joined the “Responsible Care - Vastuu Huomisesta” programme and have a contractual relationship with The Environmental Register of Packaging PYR Ltd.

Responsible Care programme

We comply with the general principles of Responsible Care:

1. We consider environmental, health and safety (EHS) issues, and minimizing problems associated with these, as an important and inseparable part or our business activities.

2. We train, advise and encourage all our personnel to work in a responsible way in environmental, health and safety (EHS) matters.

3. We continuously strive to minimize emission levels and improve the efficiency of our use of raw materials and energy.

4. We continually assess our activities, to identify and reduce environmental, health and safety risks.

5. We analyze wherever possible the environmental, health and safety impact of all new processes and products prior to their adoption or launch.

6. We keep the authorities informed of our operations and their possible environmental, health and safety impact.

7. We keep the public and other interest groups informed of our production operations and products, and their environmental, health and safety aspects; and we respond to anxiety and concern expressed about them.

8. We provide our customers with advice on the safe use and disposal of our products.

9. We expect our subcontractors and suppliers to follow these principles whenever possible.

10. We inform partners involved in technology transfer projects of the appropriate measures required to protect the environment and ensure health and safety.

PYR - The Environmental Register of Packaging PYR Ltd

We have made a contract with The Environmental Register of Packaging PYR Ltd. PYR Works in conjunction with producer organizations in the field of packaging as governed by Waste Act. It assists its member firms in order that the recovery obligations stipulated by the EU packaging directive and the related Finnish legislation may be fulfilled as economically and as smoothly as possible.

Saving energy

As a member of Motiva’s Energy Efficiency Programme we are demonstrating that we desire to save energy as well as reduce our carbon footprint. An example being an “in house” research project currently in progress on how to refine our waste water more effectively. We will be changing to the electrical invoice circulation in order to reduce our consumption of paper in the future. We have many other different kinds of improvement projects going on all the time. Soon we will also implement the ISO 14001 procedures and recommendations to our quality management system.
